Fox positioned viewers as participants. Its coverage centered faith and prayer, leaned on phrases like “desperate search” and “gut-wrenching plea,” and featured the extended family’s appeals — an emotionally charged frame built around mobilization rather than procedure.

Where the two frames diverged most.

The contrasts were systematic, not incidental. CNN emphasized the FBI and a measured tone; Fox emphasized executive involvement and emotional appeal. CNN kept faith to a minimal mention; Fox made it a recurring theme. CNN concentrated on one family member; Fox widened the lens to the full family and the surrounding community.
